A Man's Vow

I promise myself to be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet. To make all my friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvements of myself that I have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. So help me God.

Weekly Reading for week of August 4

Fellas,

Are you enjoying reading the book of Jeremiah or are you just going through the motions. Regardless of how you feel, read it and do your best to align your spirit with the truth of the Word and you will see some amazing results. don't just look at it as some piece of historical reading, but look at it as though God is speaking to you through history.

Your reading today will allow you to see the visual aid God used as He instructed Jeremiah buy a new loincloth. A loincloth is a wide piece of linen sas used as a man's belt and wallet.....today it's called a fanny-pack. Jeremiah is told to burry it in the moist, muddy bank of the Euphrates River. Later, when instructed by God to dig it up again, Jeremiah finds the best in a predictable condition. It is rotten and useless. The object of the lesson that God was trying to point out is that God's Chosen People, who were once close to Him, and filled with riches, have become as useless as a rotten linen girdle because of their involvement with sinful excess.

Covenant

Today I am walking across the line. I'm tired of drifting away. I will no longer live with indecisiveness. I've made my choice, the ruling is in. I'm going God's way. The decision I have made is irrevocable. There is no turning back. There are no other options. There is a purpose for my life. I know the direction; I have the strength to walk in it. I will not squander my time or energy on superficial living, small minded thinking, frivolous talking, careless doing, useless guilt, spiteful resentment, or faithless concerns. As a replacement, I will magnify God, produce maturity, serve in ministry, and complete my mission in the membership of this family called The Alliance.

Accountability and Strength

II Peter 1: 3-10 3. Jesus has the power of God, by which He has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by His Glory and goodness. 4. Through these He gave us the very great and precious promises. With these gifts you can share in being like God, and the world will not ruin you with its evil desires. 5. Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; 6. And to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; 7. And to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness, add love. 8. If all these things are in you and are growing, they will help you to be useful and productive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. But anyone who does not have these things cannot see clearly. He is blind and has forgotten that he was made clean from his past sins. 10. My brothers and sisters, try hard to be certain that you really are called and chosen by God. If you do all these things, you will never fall.

Have you spent daily time in the Word and prayer?

Have you had any flirtatious or lustful attitudes, tempting thoughts, or exposed yourself to any explicit materials which would not glorify God?

Have you spent quality relationship time with family and friends?

Have you done your 100% best in your job, school, etc?

Have you told any half truths or out-right lies putting yourself in a better light to those around you?

Have you encouraged someone or shared the Word with a non-believer this week?

Have you taken care of your body through daily physical exercise and proper eating / sleeping habits?

Have you been completed above reproach in your financial dealings?

Have you allowed any person or circumstance to rob you of your joy?
