A Man's Vow
I promise myself to be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet. To make all my friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvements of myself that I have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. So help me God.

Anthony Powell's 5/29 Teaching
I seem to constantly hear people complain about the lack of fruit in their life. It just seems that God's provision is never enough. We always need more. There's a lot of truth to this desire. We should always desire more. But more of what? More stuff or more of God? Where are you headed? How are you going to get there? I'm sure you've heard the saying "Life is a journey not a destination". We're all on this journey whether we believe it or not. What are your tools of navigation. How are you as Koop likes to say "Steering you Ship"?
I know that straight up we all have the tools to succeed...right now. If we never gained another single piece of knowledge in our lifetime we would still have enough to walk through life without failure. Just the simple fact that you're apart of an organization such as the Alliance tells me that you've been equiped. So why the complaints?
Is it lack of Faith? I don't think so. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we all believe in God and know that he's the Lord of our lives. Is it lack of understanding or purpose? Again I'm gonna say no. Cuz what's the mission of this group? Leading men, changing lives, bringing strength and impacting people...Alliance strong. Is it because we lack to tools to know how to accomplish our mission? As I eluded to earlier we've got the tools. You need look no further then the Bible. Then what is it? We're LAZY BASTARDS!!!! That's what it is. We won't get off our asses to do the things that God has called us to do that's gonna make all the difference. I use the word bastard because a bastard is someone without a father. When we're lazy we are not imitating our heavenly father therefore we're acting as if he doesn't exist. We might as well have no father.
The Bible puts it like this. Proverbs 6: 6-11" Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers it food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? A little sleep, and a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man." Now lets read that again and replace the word ant with Lazy Bastard. Hear how that sounds.
Now you might be saying, hold up Mr. Powell. I'm not Lazy. I do all that is asked of me and I see no fruit. I'd say impossible. I've yet to meet a person who isn't lazy to some degree. Do you really read your Bible every day and meditate on it day and night. That what the Bible instructs us to do. Do you seek the fruit of the Spirit and expect God to manifest himself in you through the acts of signs and wonders? That's what the Bible says. Do you daily look for opportunities in which you can speak the good news to all whom you come in contact with? That's what the Bible says. Do you live a life of uncomprimiseing faith to the point that even in your alone time the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart are acceptable in his sight. Again That's what the Bible says.
Provervs 6 is referring to an Ant...a small some might say insignificant little creature that crawls on the earth storing provisions. No ones looking over it's shoulder having to hold it accountable. No ones having to coerce him to do his job. It's simply a life or death decision. If he's lazy...he dies... if he labors he lives. Isn't that our life in Christ.
If we know God's word and obey...we live...if we refuse to seek him and do what is asked of us...we die. It's as simple as that. Laziness is not an option. Are you reading your Bible daily? Do you know the Mission, Vow, Covenent and all the other things that are being asked of us. There's simply no time for laziness. The verse says; " A little sleep and a little slumber a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a bandit. and scarcity like an armed man. Get off your butts you Lazy Bastards and step into all the promises of God. Amen.
